The Symm program is grounded in independent, peer-reviewed research on beneficial soil microbes, with field-trial evidence across more than 50 crops for yield, resilience under stress, and nutrient-use efficiency.

Research foundation

Symm is built on independent, peer-reviewed research into the symbiotic microbes that help plants withstand stress and use nutrients more efficiently. The program has two parts, applied together:

  • Part 1 is a multi-isolate Trichoderma harzianum consortium that works inside the plant to support resilience.
  • Part 2 is a five-strain Bacillus consortium that works in the soil to improve nutrient availability.

Both are naturally occurring and non-GMO. On top of that research base, the program is evaluated in replicated field trials across a wide range of crops and growing conditions.

Resilience under stress

The clearest gains show up under stress. The program has been evaluated against the abiotic stresses that most often cut yield:

  • Heat stress: maintains vigor at high temperatures, including above 100°F (38°C).
  • Drought stress: holds performance under water-limited conditions.
  • Salinity stress: helps plants manage salt-affected soils and water.
  • Cold stress: supports the plant through temperature fluctuations.
  • Nutrient stress: improves how efficiently the crop accesses the nutrition available to it.

Across these trials, treated plants tend to hold vigor and root mass where untreated plants fall behind. The greater the environmental stress, the more pronounced the advantage tends to be.

Yield & nutrient-use efficiency

  • Yield: a typical increase of 5 to 10% in a normal season, often greater under drought, heat, or salinity stress. We state this as a range rather than a single number.
  • Nutrient-use efficiency: Part 2 improves how well the crop draws on the nutrition already in the soil, and growers often see improvements in the nutrient composition of the harvested crop.

Quality & consistency

Living inputs are only as good as what survives to the field, so consistency is part of the evidence:

  • Each lot meets a guaranteed minimum viable count.
  • Each lot is screened for microbial contaminants as part of quality control.
  • Every batch carries its own record, with robust batch tracking and auditing.
